SriBuO Online Weekly Album Review - Kwabena Kwabena - Bibini
More Stores
Bibini is the second album from Ghana's soulful singer, Kwabena Kwabena. This week SriBuO is going to walk you through "Bibini" which literally means "Black beauty".
Bibini is the first track on the album and features Tinny who raps in Ga. Kwabena tells of the story of how he won the heart of this Black Beauty; there has been no one before and there will be no one after her. This track has a lovely tempo which you can sway to. Dadea Anoma, the next song on the album is a nostalgic tune that tells the story of lovers that have been separated by space and time. If you are in a long distance relationship, or missing a loved one, this song was meant for you. A nice twist to the song is how the beat transitions from a slow rhythm to a faster paced tune with Kwabena Kwabena's signature drum beats at the very end.
My Baby follows after Dadea Anoma. This song is also another very danceable tune where Kwabena sings about the woman who he wants to be his lady. The chorus for this song is reminiscent of another Ghanaian song, "Odo Nwum" (Love song) that has the same "Owaaye, waaye waaye" singing as part of its chorus. After telling us about his baby, Kwabena Kwabena now focuses on those who would see them put asunder. Jealousy, as the song name suggests talks about the jealousy of onlookers: "See me poor man, I get fine fine lady. Jealousy go she, jealousy go she". This tune for lovers features a section where the drums and strings will simply take you to another level of auditory pleasure.
Abotare (Patience) comes next on the album; the album also includes an instrumental version. This song is without a doubt, the best song on Bibini. Kwabena Kwabena simply makes your heart melt as he tells his lover to be patient with him and wait on God as they journey through life and work to bring their dreams to fruition. They have faced the chagrin of friends and family in order to be together and " ... this story will one day be told". The wind instruments on the track combined with Kwabena's silky smooth voice make this track a must listen for all Ghanaian music lovers. Below is the track for your listening pleasure:
Obi ne yem (Somebody's belly) follows next. In contrast to Abotare's slow crooning sound, this is a fast paced, upbeat sound. This is another love story but a very different one, the story of "You don't know what you've got till its gone". Kwabena's chorus for this song is quite catchy. It is very easy for you to picture that "Obi" jumping and clutching his belly as he shouts "Obi ni y3m, wheim!!".
Meretwen wo (I'm waiting for you) is the final track on the album. This song features sounds from the Ghanaian Atentenben flute. It has a similar theme to Dadea Anoma and Abotare in that, it talks about the patient wait of lovers that have been separated by distance and time. The rap doctor, Okyeame Kwame is featured on this track. He does the track justice with an interesting rap style that picks up speed as he gets further along into the rap ... till he hits its peak ... without stopping for breath!!
In summary, Kwabena Kwabena's Bibini album is simply sublime. His lyrical and instrumental genius shines through almost every track. Bibini is an album of love, and you will fall in love with it after your first listen. Go grab your copy now!!

SriBuO Online Weekly Album Review - Okyeame Kwame - M'anwensem
More Stores
Hello Ghana Music Lovers,
This week we are bringing to you the first solo album of the man known as the "Rap Doctor" himself - Okyeame Kwame. The album, titled "M'anwensem" literally means "My Poetry" ... and boy is Okyeame Kwame (O.K.) a poet on this album! His lyrical genius with his native language Twi shines through all the tracks on the 14 tracks on the album.
In his first track "Anaa" which features Morris D'Voice on the vocals, he uses deep metaphors to describe the things he might do to get his lover to understand how deep his love is. The air she breathes, the blood flowing through her veins, the thoughts wafting through her mind ... he would be all of them if he could in order to show his love.
Another track where O.K.'s lyrical prowess shines is in "Mmr3" ("Time") which features Kwabena Kwabena. O.K. literally bends time and space with his lyrics. He painstakingly enumerates all the rights he would wrong and things he would change if he could reverse the hands of time.
In addition to the above, there are also the popular "Woso (Remix)", "Yahooze" and other danceable tracks on the album for those of you out there who love to dance.
Another thing worthy of note about this album is how O.K. stays true to his Ghanaian roots on almost all of the tracks. It is a true Hip life album in the sense that most of the tracks combine Hip Hop style raps in Twi with High Life tunes and instrumentals.
All in all a stellar release from the Rap Doctor. Go grab your copy now!!

SriBuO Weekly Online Album Review - Mimi Divalish - Music In Me
This week, we are bringing you the first album from Mimi Divalish - Music in Me. The album can be classified as a Pop album, a bold move for a first album since not that many Ghanaian artistes are producing music in this genre.
The first track "Leave Me Alone (ft 4x4)" was produced by the beat maker - Richie from LYNX Entertainment. This is a track you can move your body to and has an engaging music video to go along with it. The song talks about how broke guys who try to act fly should leave all Divas alone. "DJ", another pop song from the album (see video below) is just the kind of song you want to get loose to on a Friday night in the club. "Fa Ma Mi (ft. Tinny)" is a Hiplife, Reggaeton tune where Mimi beckons her lover to "give her the thing wey she dey like ooo". Tinny also lays some solid lyrics on this track. "Tatoo", the most sentimental love song on the album is a slow tempo track that talks about how a lover has the name of their soul mate etched in their heart; just like a tatoo. Mimi sings in Twi as she delivers its heart-rending lyrics.
There are also remixes of the various tracks on the album featuring artistes like Jane, Caroline, Dela, Tinny, Sita and Papi from 5five, in addition to instrumentals and an acapella version of DJ.
Overall, this album is a good listen for someone looking for something different from the Ghanaian music scene. Who knows? Perhaps its the beginning of a new genre of music that will come to be known as GH Pop: Pop music Ghana style ...

SriBuO Online Album Review - Mzbel - Saucy Girl
Mzbel is no longer 16 years ... now the new Saucy Girl and she is not afraid to say it loud. SriBuO brings you "Saucy Girl", Mzbel's sophomore album which is now available on iTunes and other online stores for download.
Overall, this album is a huge departure from her first. It explores more foreign genres including Pop, Retro, Reggaeton, Electronic, Funk etc. These are most pronounced in the first few tracks from the album; namely - Saucy Girl, Run Away, You Don't Turn Me On, Baby Turn Me On and Material Girl. Majority of her lyrics (both rap and song) are also in English this time around.
As always, Mzbel is daring and seductive and it shows throughout the album. "Play me that naughty song and take me tonight ...", "Touch it, hold it, grab it, feel it, drop it, kick it, squeeze it ..." are a few of the suggestive lyrics that pervade the album.
Even though most of the tracks are geared towards an international audience, the Saucy Girl still stays true to her Ghanaian roots and has some Kpanlogo and other more Ghanaian sounding tracks where she raps and sings in Twi. Odo Kiss Me, San Bra (also featured on her first album) and Twe Ma Me are a few of such tracks.
If you are looking for something indigenous then you will probably want to go for her old album. If on the other hand you are ready to explore what happens when music genres, themes and lyrics from around the world are blended into a head-bobbing mix of danceable tracks, then this is definitely the album for you.
Go grab your copy now!! Below is the video of her "Saucy Girl" title track.

SriBuO takes Ghana Music Global
SriBuO: Bringing Ghana's Best to Global Markets!!
Ghanaian musicians for sometime now have not benefited from the global impact of online marketing and distribution. When Jay-Z was releasing Blue Print 3, people knew to go to iTunes and download his album for $9.99, same with many other artists all over the world. So why can't the same be said for an Okyeame Kwame, Okomfour Kwaadee or Bradez' albums? Even though there is a demand for Ghanaian music abroad, often times, there isn't a reliable and efficient system to handle the nuances of distributing Ghanaian works across the globe. This is what a team of young and passionate Ghanaians at home and abroad hope to achieve through the synergy of SriBuO.
SriBuO is a service that seeks to help Ghanaian musicians and record labels to market their music worldwide via the world's largest and best online platforms. Currently it is able to market to iTunes worldwide, Amazon.com, Real Rhapsody, eMusic and a host of other online music stores.
All that musicians and record labels have to do is to approach SriBuO with their music. After the necessary permissions are obtained, their albums are put online. SriBuO collects and distributes sales payments to the musicians and record labels. They also provide other services that include handling copyright registration, registration with performance rights organization and online promotion/marketing.
“We deal with whoever owns the copyrights to the album/music recordings. That could be the distributor, artist or record label. SriBuO takes care of all the hassle involved in getting your music ready for online distribution, we help you market your music and handle payments involved in addition to any tax issues”, says George Armah, Chief Dreaming Officer. "We send monthly reports to our clients each month. Whenever they are ready, they can withdraw their royalties via Bank Transfer or Western Union.", he adds.
Various other platforms have tried to market Ghanaian music via popular online music stores. Others have also built niche websites that are not easily discoverable. There are also some other platforms that offer illegal downloads of Ghanaian music without paying the copyright holders anything. SriBuO on the other hand is trying to put Ghanaian music on the world map like it has never been done before. The team is trying to market more than just music, but also marketing Ghanaian culture.
SriBuO has partnerships with other media houses and organizations in Ghana who are trying to market Ghanaian music to the rest of the world. Some of these partnerships include partnerships with websites like:

Online Album Review - Asem Sebe - Obrafour
This week, SriBuO Media brings to you Obrafour's sophomore album - Asem Sebe. This track was a big hit during its release and here is a run down of what it has to offer.
Album starts our with "Who born you by mistake" produced by Hammer of the Last two featuring Bazaar. Hammer's trademark sound is heard clearly on the track which speaks to the Rap 'Sofour's prowess in the music industry. The next few tracks "Odo" and "Maame" are tributes to two of some of the most important women a man can have in his life - his love, and his mother. Obrafour's lyrical prowess is evident in these tracks which are laced with a strong highlife tune.
"Asem sebe", the title track of the album was interestingly enough, not the most popular song on the album. The Executioner then returns to his cultural roots in the tracks "Me Ye Wo Dia" ( I am yours ) and "Okuku Seku" ( Fear man and not ghosts ). The former has an underlying Adowa sound and the latter is derived from an old Ghanaian proverb about the nature of mankind: inherently evil and so you should watch out and be wary of your fellow man instead of fearing ghosts.
"Twe Wo Ho" is another hit track from the album. It is a story of love and betrayal ... about a woman called Rita who betrayed Obrafour with his best friend. Oh chale "otoo nikuma maa abonsam papa". This track is heavy with Akan proverbs and again we hear the atumpan of Hammer giving the song its heat beat.
Other tracks on this album worthy of mention are "Akwentuni" : the story of expatriates who leave their home for greener pastures. Obrafour is asking you to come back home ... and "Obibini" where Obrafour asks the black man to "Wake Up"!! and better himself.
All in all, this album is a very solid release release from the Rap Sofour and you should go grab your copy now!!
