SriBuO Online Weekly Album Review - Okyeame Kwame - M'anwensem
More Stores
Hello Ghana Music Lovers,
This week we are bringing to you the first solo album of the man known as the "Rap Doctor" himself - Okyeame Kwame. The album, titled "M'anwensem" literally means "My Poetry" ... and boy is Okyeame Kwame (O.K.) a poet on this album! His lyrical genius with his native language Twi shines through all the tracks on the 14 tracks on the album.
In his first track "Anaa" which features Morris D'Voice on the vocals, he uses deep metaphors to describe the things he might do to get his lover to understand how deep his love is. The air she breathes, the blood flowing through her veins, the thoughts wafting through her mind ... he would be all of them if he could in order to show his love.
Another track where O.K.'s lyrical prowess shines is in "Mmr3" ("Time") which features Kwabena Kwabena. O.K. literally bends time and space with his lyrics. He painstakingly enumerates all the rights he would wrong and things he would change if he could reverse the hands of time.
In addition to the above, there are also the popular "Woso (Remix)", "Yahooze" and other danceable tracks on the album for those of you out there who love to dance.
Another thing worthy of note about this album is how O.K. stays true to his Ghanaian roots on almost all of the tracks. It is a true Hip life album in the sense that most of the tracks combine Hip Hop style raps in Twi with High Life tunes and instrumentals.
All in all a stellar release from the Rap Doctor. Go grab your copy now!!
