SriBuO Weekly Online Album Review - Mimi Divalish - Music In Me
This week, we are bringing you the first album from Mimi Divalish - Music in Me. The album can be classified as a Pop album, a bold move for a first album since not that many Ghanaian artistes are producing music in this genre.
The first track "Leave Me Alone (ft 4x4)" was produced by the beat maker - Richie from LYNX Entertainment. This is a track you can move your body to and has an engaging music video to go along with it. The song talks about how broke guys who try to act fly should leave all Divas alone. "DJ", another pop song from the album (see video below) is just the kind of song you want to get loose to on a Friday night in the club. "Fa Ma Mi (ft. Tinny)" is a Hiplife, Reggaeton tune where Mimi beckons her lover to "give her the thing wey she dey like ooo". Tinny also lays some solid lyrics on this track. "Tatoo", the most sentimental love song on the album is a slow tempo track that talks about how a lover has the name of their soul mate etched in their heart; just like a tatoo. Mimi sings in Twi as she delivers its heart-rending lyrics.
There are also remixes of the various tracks on the album featuring artistes like Jane, Caroline, Dela, Tinny, Sita and Papi from 5five, in addition to instrumentals and an acapella version of DJ.
Overall, this album is a good listen for someone looking for something different from the Ghanaian music scene. Who knows? Perhaps its the beginning of a new genre of music that will come to be known as GH Pop: Pop music Ghana style ...
